New Zealand Kiwis

Kiwis is the name of the national rugby league team of New Zealand. The national team was known as the All Gold's on the very first tour back in 1907 - 1908.

Albert Baskerville is often thought of as the father of rugby league in New Zealand maybe even Australia. Albert along with George Smith a All Black at the time orgranised a tour to Great Britain to play the Northern Rules (now the great game of rugby league) game. On the way to Great Britain the All Gold's stopped in Australia and played some games against NSW teams.

The Kiwis are the current World Champions after winning it for the first time in 2008 with a 34 to 20 victory over the Australia Kangaroos at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The Kiwis have made it a habit in the last 5 years to win or push the Kangaroos to the limit in competitions.

It started back in 2005 with the Kiwis winning the Tri Nations in England, beating the Kangaroos in the final, then in the 2006 tri Nations hosted in Australia and New Zealand they pushed the Kangaroos to extra time, only to lose in extra time 12 to 16.

In 2010 the Kiwis once again beat the Australians in a final at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane to win the Four Nations.

The Kiwis have now played over 300 tests against various nations and over 700 men have pulled on the black jersey with the white v. I'm sure that in the future there will be many more tests and many more Kiwis.
